It has been a long road  —   allow me to offer up a mere kindling in the eye.

Of all the long visions and great peregrinations that have passed, none of them has survived as more than this  —   in their happenstance or anticlimactic redoubling of energies, or recouping of will and passion and strength  —   for there can be no ancestral return, no twinning of minds over any communed satiation of musics or pairings of grapes or perfumed spring days that can ever rise again.  Only in knowing ways of being in the world and swimming in seven oceans, claiming rarest sunrises, living to discern, or sharing a kindness are humans made complete.  And as one is magnified in the abundance that we have around us in experiences, we are offered many treasures, for the spirit, for the mind, in the eye.

The day ahead of us is yet a grand benevolence, that can find us, if we are fortunate.  We cannot know if it will be the focus of the greatest of energies that will strongly set a memory, but we might find it mapping objects in the world to a lens, bottling time, kindling even now.
